LAGUNA HILLS, CA (BRAIN) — Bicycle Retailer & Industry News has selected the Top 100 and Gold Star retailers for 2012 and has invited this elite group to a special reception in their honor to be held the first evening of Interbike.

The Top 100 and Gold Star retailers were selected through a nomination process that included many of the industry’s top suppliers and distributors. They were asked to submit their selections taking into consideration sales volume, professionalism, operational excellence, business practices, community involvement, advocacy work, innovation/creativity and customer service. In addition, the magazine received more than 75 self-nomination forms submitted by individual retailers.

This year 158 retailers made the cut — 100 Top retailers and 58 Gold Star shops. The Gold Star list is made up of retailers that have been nominated as a Top 100 for several consecutive years in a row.

Washington,IL. –  RUSSELL’S CYCLE & FITNESS has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Bicycle Retailers in the country by a panel of leading manufacturers. Boulder Sports Research, LLC, a leading bicycle industry research company, conducted the survey.

Working with the top twelve suppliers in the industry and the industry’s leading trade publication Bicycle Retailer and Industry News, criteria used to pick the winners included market share, community outreach and store appearance. 

“There are more than 5,200 bicycle retailers in the United States,” said Thomas Prehn, president of the research company. “For RUSSELL’S CYCLE & FITNESS to achieve the status of one of the Top 100 Bicycle Retailers in the nation is no small matter.  This bike shop stands as the best of the best,” he said.

Marc Sani, the magazine’s publisher, said choosing the nation’s best stores is a tremendous challenge. “There are so many excellent shops—in hundreds of communities throughout the U.S.—that picking the Top 100 only begins to reflect the overall high quality of bicycle retailing,” he said.

RUSSELL’S CYCLE & FITNESS has been in business for 30 years in central Illinois. They carry an extensive inventory of cycling products for all types of riding including new and used equipment. In addition, RUSSELL’S is a complete home and commercial fitness dealer. They have their own “in house” sale, delivery and service staff with no third party involvement. RUSSELL’S CYCLE & FITNESS is committed to bicycle safety education and has partnered with the CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS to bring bicycle safety presentations to over 10,000 central Illinois students with more scheduled for the coming year. RUSSELL’S also partners with the local ILLINOIS VALLEY WHEELM’N to sponsor organised rides and bicycle advocacy topics.
